| Description: | Having flirted with several tweaks in musical direction, retained a deliberately low profile over the past couple of years writing new material & practicing hard in their Aberdeenshire country hideaway and simply maturing as musicians and individuals, the ‘new’ ESTRELLA – about to be unleashed with the launch of their debut album later this summer – are set to surprise and delight their many fans around the globe and certainly attract a plethora of new admirers...............in droves! Oh, and did we mention, in true Spinal Tap tradition, they’ve also changed their drummer? So why the change of focus after wowing audiences with a 70’s inspired sound that morphed Aerosmith, AC/DC and more than a little bit of homespun Caithness youthful exuberance? Step forward John T Sinclair................ Having relocated to the Highlands after more than three decades on the road, the last 17 of them as keyboard player for Ozzy Osbourne, the former Uriah Heep star has been using his vast wealth of experience in the industry to help ESTRELLA reach their full potential........ with devastating results! While remaining loyal to the band’s roots of ‘classic rock’, the new album offers so much more - a new diversity of musical approaches, including the development of a fresh blues feel absent in the earlier work, and a fuller, more mature sound that is simply stunning. And it’s quite a debut from the new drummer! In Leo Mcpherson, the band has unearthed a real gem who sounds like he’s been playing with the rest of the boys for years. And by the rest of the boys we mean, of course, the Gunn brothers, Paul (vocals), Luke (lead guitar) and Nathan Thomas (bass guitar). Make no mistake about it! ESTRELLA are back with a vengeance! Tasters for the new album, out in August, will be available on this site shortly, as will the long awaited list of ‘live’ dates! It’s the calm before the storm..................and what a storm it promises to be! | |
