Jyrojets Review

Highland hi-flyers the Jyrojets release their new single, a lush recording of the fab "Hollywood, Hold On", on 10th September and I hope it brings them even more exposure and plaudits on their journey skyward. The constant factor of the Jyrojets is their strong sense of melody combined with a delivery which perfectly fits the song. Hollywood, Hold On demonstrates these qualities in spade loads with a wonderful hook, which won't leave your
head until it melts. Just the right amount of balance between the power and harmonies, another example of what makes them stand out from the usual post Oasis crowd. Colin's voice is maybe a tad smoother than I remember but he's still got the type of voice which I think makes a great band as you can hear the passion and grit in every word. A bit like a tuneful Liam Gallagher with range.

The other major quality of the band is their presence live and I can remember the first time I saw them in Fort William a couple of years ago during the Channel 4 Make Tracks tour. Playing among a list of fine Highland bands their tight, aggressive yet melodic set laden with harmonies was a breath of fresh air. They were like the perfect combination of the pristine power pop of early 90s LA band Jellyfish with the swagger and energy of
early Oasis. With frontman Colin snarling and contorting throughout, combined with great band interplay and musicianship reeking with attitude, they quite frankly blew me away.

So, if you like a great tune with attitude get out and buy this and also take the time to also check playing live as I think these lads have a huge amount of potential and are guaranteed to entertain and leave their tunes buzzing round your brain.
